Day 219-- tax season

When I get mad, I usually don't display the standard "angry" tendencies. I pout, look at the ground; in some cases I might even shake a little or want to cry.

But good grief, I think for one of the few times in my life I want to tear a jet engine in two, rend the street outside into crumbled bits of asphalt, rupture the space-time continuum with a howl of rage.

I'm all about the Fair Tax idea, where we would have something like a 20-percent national sales tax but no income tax...I had to pay this year too, and while I know we'd still be paying a lot of money to the government, it would be based on consumption rather than production. Plus I just really hate figuring out tax return stuff...

The one difficulty with the Fair Tax is that it does not make the Income Tax illegal. In other words, while the initial legislation to get the FT passed would get rid of the IT, there is no reason why the very next year it couldn't be reinstated (it is, after all, a Constitutional Amendment), making the tax burden instantly triple.
